    New rear OEM shocks

    Hello all
Just about to fit new rear shocks on my L322 2002 HSE. From what I can see, the shocks already on the vehicle are the originals, with 200,000 clicks, I'm surprised are in pretty good condition.
The new ones are the OME bilstons, so no mods needed.
Has any one tackled this job ? do I need to de pressurise the air suspension ?
It looks straightforward but as we all know, Range Rovers seem always to have a hidden agenda.......ha ha
    Any tips ?
    Cheers Paul

    Hi Paul,
I replaced mine 2 years ago (140K) after oil leak appeared in one. Very straight forward. I didnt do anything to air suspension, just jacked it up removed rear wheel for access. Top is accessed thru spare wheel cavity. Cant remember the time but not long at all.

Hi Paul, can I ask where you sourced the shocks?

    Rear shocks

    Hi Harlie
The shocks came from ebay uk. Drivecare is the store name.
Listed under New and genuine, Range Rover l322 rear dampers.85 pounds each. I just looked and they are still available.
    They do freight to Oz.

    Rear Inserts

Landrover has 'rationalized' a lot of their rear shocks. Several models that were close to identical can now all be replaced with the same insert - RPD500260, RPD500270, RPD000060A, etc all can be fitted with the LAND ROVER RPD000060 (cross references - BILSTEIN 44124748, MONROE D4004).

You'll need an air rattle gun to crack loose the nut that holds the top mounting plate on and you must be carefull to not lose the hardened steel washer that fits under it. Apart from that it is a simple matter of undoing the through bolt at the bottom and removing the 3 nuts that clamp the adaptor plate to the vehicle's body.

The new shock inserts come with the lower 'rubber' bushing bonded in and swap over takes just a few minutes. (For the L322 2 x 70mm cuts in the carpet under the spare tyre cover gets easy access to the top 3 nuts without going through the RAV's long panel removal process).

I got a pair from Island 4x4 UK for AU$230 delivered. Took longer to get the car jacked up than to change the 2 inserts over.

    bye.
