New alternator
Hello again.
Just had a new OEM alternator fitted, the last one died mid rush hour traffic and completely drained the battery.
The car came back from the auto electrician, with the battery fully charged and seemed to be working fine.
The gear change , now after 3 weeks is jerky and the revs seem to be going a lot higher before the gears change up or down, also fuel consumption is a lot higher.
Any thoughts ?
Paul.

anything logged? First thought is comms or sensor issue, which would be recorded.
There is an adaptive reset for the transmission, that forces it to relearn its shift methods.

New Alternator
Hi Harlie
Nothing has come up as a fault, could a dud battery have any thing to do with this ?
Another question, can you trickle charge the battery, without removing the leads, I don't want the fault code to come up.
Maybe a fully charged battery, will give an indication if that's the problem.

Low voltage will cause all sorts of strange issues. Usually the first is "HDC Inactive" message when you start up
Couple months ago, the key was left on in my car with headlights on (bloody kids!) for about hour, when I started it there were all kinds of faults logged. Only one was displayed on the instrument panel, but there was about 15 in other systems (mostly CANBUS Error, which is a common comms issue indicating a dropped packet) when checked with diog gear - charged it, cleared them and they have not returned.
Yes you can charge battery, I do it all the time, I run the fridge in the back over night regularly. When we go away for 4-6 weeks, I leave a charger hooked up with a timer to turn on for 1 hr each night while we are away.
Your change in transmission behavior is a bit of concern, firstly make sure the voltage is good, get the Adaptive Learning reset.
Whats the trans fluid like?
There are stories of buggered EGR causing issues. Essentially the engine ECU knows something is wrong and compensates by changing shift points.
