Towing Tyre Pressures
Hi Team
We are well into the stage of hooking-up our new Evernew Caravan behind our 2009 TDV8. The van will weigh about 2700Kg fully loaded. We are running factory standard 19" rims with Pirelli Scorpion ATR's (pretty happy with them also) and I would welcome advice on the optimum tyre pressures your experience has provided.
Based upon some comments of the Fullfatrr site we have been running 33 front and 36 rear (when cold) they quickly grow to 36 front and 40 rear on the hot days.
Our driving with the van will be mainly highway and normal highway (legal) speeds.
Any comments/advice would be most welcome.
Regards
Rod

more in the rear for towing, it's now carring more weight.
important Q. What are the specs of the tyres - ??kg Max load at ??psi. Different brands/models are happiest at very different pressures. Last time I had Scorpions they had quite a low max pressure rating, and were happy at a pressure that was considered too low for other tyres.
As an example, tyres that were on my car were happy at 32-34. now have michis and are running them at 42 everyday and up the rear when loaded, they developped scalaps along the outside&inside edge and were obviously not happy. Unfortunatly we can't just say RR should have 36psi - just doesn't fit for all tyres.
