A friend in Canada is about to buy a 2003 Range Rover, even though it's making a strange noise and he has no idea what it is. I've never had a Range Rover of any kind, nor any Land Rover even vaguely that new, so I can't help him.

He says the noise sounds like it is coming from the right hand side of the engine bay, from the area where the air suspension is located. The car is left hand drive, so on this one it's the passenger side. It sounds like a ball rolling and bouncing around.

The car has a 4.4 V8 and has done 150,000km. It's in great condition and has never been off road. The air suspension works fine and the car goes, stops and steers fine. The noise doesn't seem to have any problems associated with it. It's been there for a couple of years now.

Does anyone have any idea what the noise might be?

Thanks, Dave.
