03 L322 remote key buttons not working

So today I go into Bunnings to buy mozzie zapper, get back to the RR, press the unlock button and...........nothing .Unlocked the car with the key put the key in the ignition and started easy .
So no buttons are working on the remote , I tried the re sync procedure as follows.

    Get in Car
    Unlock and shut all doors
Put key in ignition turn to position 1 and back off within 5 sec
Pres the unlock button while holding it down pres the lock button 3 times then release both buttons the remote should sync.

The care should confirm this by a lock and unlock sequence of the doors .

Well nothing couldn't get it to work ,anyone have an idea of what's wrong or how to fix it ?

I had a similar problem, just changed the remote battery in the end, even though it appeared to be working ok. Must require a certain amount of power to transmit, even though the light works.
I hope this is all your problem,

    Hi Dockstrada,

I'm with Laurie on this one. The remote definitely has a threshold for the effectiveness of the remote. As observed the LED in the remote will still illuminate but the radio signal just isn't strong enough to be reliable to the security system.

I've been caught out too by this happening. I just changed the battery and everything was great again. Didn't even have to resynch the remote.

Just like any diagnosis, always go for the simple things first. An old medical associate of mine always used to comment - " when you hear hoof beats, don't think zebras"

Good luck with a new remote battery (a CR2016 I think).

    Cheers,
    Iain

Probably not much help, but I've had a couple of instances of the remote not working. However after opening the door with the key, the remote would once again be ok. Several month gap between occurrences.

    Try this Key Fob re-set , BUT you have to re-set both sets of keys !!! From ffrr;

Reset Procedure for your key fobs

Every signal from the remote handset contains the transmitter identification code and a rolling code. The BCU checks
the codes and only responds if the signal is from a valid transmitter. During vehicle production, the remote handsets
supplied with the vehicle are initialised to set their individual transmitter identification codes and synchronise their
respective rolling codes with the BCU. If a transmitter loses synchronisation with the BCU, or if a replacement or
additional remote handset is to be used with the vehicle, the initialisation procedure must be repeated. During the
procedure, all remote handsets for use with the vehicle must be initialised.

    Initialisation Procedure

1 Ensure the vehicle is unlocked and the driver and front passenger doors are closed.

2 Install a key/remote handset in the ignition switch, then turn the ignition switch to position I and back to position
0 in less than 5 seconds to put the BCU into the initialisation mode. Continue the procedure within 30 seconds
of turning the ignition switch to position 0.

3 Remove the key/remote handset from the ignition switch.

4 Press and hold the unlock button for a maximum of 15 seconds. During this time, momentarily press the lock
button three times within 10 seconds.

    5 Release both buttons.

6 Successful initialisation is indicated by the BCU locking then unlocking the vehicle. If this does not occur, repeat
    step 4.

7 Repeat steps 4 and 5 with all other remote handsets belonging to the vehicle (4 maximum).

Begin the initialisation of each remote handset within 30 seconds of completing the previous initialisation, or the BCU will
drop out of the initialisation mode and the complete procedure will have to be started again.
