    Occupancy sensor

Been getting a fault up occasionally and decided to look at it tonight. Every so often when someone gets in the front passenger seat, I get the little airbag light up on the dash. It goes away again after a minute or so. I was playing around with my IID tool tonight and checked it - it came up with 'Occupancy Sensor' - well, duh....

It is obviously sensing someone sitting there as the lamp go out if they get out, but does anyone know why the fault is occurring?

    Cheers.

Thanks Laurie - I don't frequent there much any more. Looks like a new occupancy sensor, or a bypass. Bypass is a bit cheaper and won't effect airbag deployment.

    Cheers.

    Did you fit a bypass?

    Bacicat:
Did you fit a bypass to the passenger seat sensor?
If so I would appreciate knowing what was done?

If a bypass was not fitted have you managed a fix on this?

I had a light on at all times after dismantling seats to change seat cushions from left to right after 155K.
It turned out that I was the fault as I left an electrical connection off the seat occupancy sensor.
So all good with my car now but I did price a new sensor pad thinking I may have needed on and that was $520.00.
I note from the forum that there is more than one car with the air bag light showing and the unfortunate thing is that this would prevent an owner getting a Roadworthy certificate for their car.
I think that a small modification would get rid of the light but that would also mean that the passenger air bag would inflate in an accident regardless of there being a passenger or not.
