    mods to rubber centre bar

    Hi,
I have a just the centre rubber bar on my L322.
Was wondering how I go about fitting a pair of spotties and a CB arial on it.
Do I have to take it off to drill the holes?
Also when looking at it this arvo,I noticed that underneath the top cross bit, there were 4 grommets(2 each side) that I could get out and there were 4 screw in sections(2 each side). Shame that the screw in sections were too small for the spotties
    What would these be for?
    Thanks
