Seat, column and mirror position memory

    Hi guys

The seat position (ect) memory from when the key when last used seems to have stopped in my car. Try and explain.

The way I understand it is supposed to work is this:
The driver’s seat, external mirror, and steering column positions along with the ICE source is saved each time the key is removed.
When the car is unlocked, these 4 items return to where they were last time that key was used. - his & her keys

This is how it has worked until earlier this week – I have had the rare occasion where the external mirrors would not move to position in the past, but the seat and column have always done this. The mirrors are controlled by the Driver’s Door Module, and the others are controlled by the Driver’s Seat Module as I understand – correct me please.

This started Tuesday this week and hasn’t moved for either key since. Open the door and press the 1 or 2 buttons on the seat and everything swings into action going to the correct position.

A scan returns 1 fault from the Drivers Door Module. Something about drivers mirror position. Nil faults of concern anywhere else - except the aux fan on the engine which has been there for several years now because I’m slack.

Before I spend an evening with RAVE, anyone know what the difference between the stored memory from the buttons and what’s stored from last key use?

Has anyone experienced or come across, read about this one??

(ain’t life tough when you have to press a button to get your seat the way you like it because the car didn’t automatically do it for you)

After having a bit of a read, have you tried a re-set ? that is disconnecting the battery to re-set all the ECU's.

    First world problems eh Harlie...

My mirrors haven't done their thing in a long time - off the preset seat buttons. Only got one key so never had that luxury. Seats and steering column fine. I have to tweak the mirrors with the buttons on the door now - lots of hard work...
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

    too right Gav.

The mirrors are controlled by a different ECU so there will be some comms issue between the 2, occasionally my mirrors don’t move but I haven’t put any effort into tracing the issue.

Don pointed to the manual where it lists the key functionality as “Lazy Seats” which can be enabled/disabled by the dealer.

My Lazy Seat issue started after we were away, the car was parked at accommodation, not moved for 5 days. During this time we unlocked/locked the car many (20+) times to get things-put things back ect, and it was often alternating keys (kids would grab her key, I would use mine ect ect). I remember thinking we should use the same key because the seat was doing more miles than the car did to get us there. After a bit of thinking, the Lazy Seats did not work after that weekend.

So… I wonder if there is some logic about how often they move without a car starting event?? Because it didn’t work for week and a half after that weekend, then it just started working again, it would be about 6 key changes later it started again and hasn’t missed a beat since. I didn’t reset anything, didn’t unplug anything.

Mine is still working on the range rover so I'm not sure it will be the same, but with my VW touareg, it seems that there is a button that will turn on and off the automatic adjustments for the mirrors and wheel positions. Could there be this option hiding somewhere on the l322?
