Did the tool give you a longer code or just "Speaker 6A". I had a read of the systems that included speakers in the car, PDC, dash, telephone kit, stereo and nothing speaks of a diagnostic capability for the speakers. the following is my best guess.
There is this picture, and while it does not have a specific name/number for each if you follow there numbering convention with the center at one you get
1: center
2: RH Tweet
3: RH Mid
4: Front RH Woofer
5: Rear RH Woofer
6: Subwoofer
etc...
If you have the two speaker sub perhaps they are named A and B and one of those is faulty..
There is also this bad boy, maybe it explains where i am drawing this conclusion.
OR you could unplug the amp and test the resistance of the voice coils... It mentions only one is broken so you should get one speaker that does not match the results of it its offsider.. This narrows it down to one of two speakers.
I am assuming it is a stereo speaker for the moment since nothing else has 6 speakers in the car.
email GAP. If the tool is returning a plain text description their source code knows about it. I've found them very good at getting back to me with this type of questions
I emailed GAP but they didn't know which speaker 6A was.
They suggested I used the old fade/balance/ear against the speaker test, which
I doubted it would work considering how many bloody speakers these beasts have, but I was able to work out the REAR DOOR RIGHT SUBWOOFER.
Took it out and tested the cables, all worked fine, swapped another speaker which worked fine. so it was the woofer stuffed.
Thought it was a throwaway, so bashed it against the ground a few times just in case and hey presto its working! (not sure for how long tho!)
Thanks to all for your input.
Either way we now know which speaker 6A is.
