    Tdv8. Smokey under load

Hey all, wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction.

3.6 tdv8 09 vogue, 200ks runs like a dream and never missed a beat, lately I notice she's a bit more smokey under load than normal, even under light acceleration.. Not sure if this has anything to do with it but seems to puff a bit more black smoke from the right hand tail pipe than the left...

Any thoughts before I take it in to the dealer ?

Try looking for a split or hole in the Intercooler Hose to the side of the motor thats blowing smoke. Also a good dose of injector cleaner won't hurt.

I have been told the upper intercooler hoses can fail. Definitely check them as a matter of urgency. Split pipes can cause turbo overspeed and subsequent failure, which will kill then engine.

Thanks folks, pulled the top hand right pipe and found a sizeable split on the bottom side. A quick trip down to parts Saturday morning found me a replacement hose for under 100 bucks, took all of 5 minutes to replace.

Pulled the other hoses off to check and they seem fine at the moment, smoke gone and power restored...

    Thanks for your help !

Is a puff of black smoke normal when you give it a boot full? I've been enjoying the torque a bit much lately. The IC hoses were done in the last 12 mths according to the service history.

Yes it seems that way for me, especially if I've been driving conservatively for some time in which case a blast of smoke/crap comes out the back. I think it builds up in the exhaust. Usually once I give it a hard run the smoke/crap clears out. I find it best to Acelerate hard from time to time to reduce the build up.
