    Help with rear window washer

    Hi,

My rear window washer is not working. Guessing it is blocked up. Where is it?! I have looked for it but it must be hidden behind the windscreen blade. How do I get at it and how do I clear it?

    Thanks

    Talking They're hiding

    G'day,

If you lift the arm and blade away from the rear window and look up under the arm near the pivot point you'll see two small nozzles for the washer.

The water doesn't squirt from these under great force like the front washers. It's more of a fast trickle down the wiper which it then moves through across the window. As lot of fine grubby road spray gets in there they do clog occasionally.

Take whatever fine clearing device you have to hand and poke gently through the nozzles and this should clear a path to enable the washer to flow again.

If you haven't used the rear washer all that often the lines themselves may be clogged with muck. Cleaning them out requires tracking down the various lines, gently removing them and clearing them and replacing them again.

This, while straight forward, is a laborious process. Hope it's just the nozzles.

    Cheers.

Not sure I have the same rear wiper housing as you. Can't lift the wiper up at all as there is a faring above it. Do you have the same set up?

    The Zermatt Silver goodess.

    Hi All,

Sorry for the stupid post but I am dammed if I can even find the flipping hole where the water is supposed to come out of, for the rear window washer! As it has never worked since I bought the Zermatt Silver goodess I don't have a clue where it is!

    Cheers

    Exclamation They're hiding still

    G'day again Johnny,

I don't think they changed the wiper configuration in all the intervening models (maybe the MY14 did as it's a different shape).

Actually you should be able to see the little holes without moving the wiper at all. if you look around the pivot point you'll see the two holes on the wiper arm/mount.

As to being able to move the wiper, that's an intelligence test .

If you need to replace the wiper blade on the rear you turn on the rear wiper and then kill the power when it gets halfway through it's sweep, thus leaving the wiper pointing down the window. You can then lift the arm and remove/replace the blade. Not relevant to your current woes I know though useful knowledge.

If you still can't see the little holes let me know and I'll try and get a photo for you.

    Cheers,
    Iain

I had to tackle mine from the inside taking trim of the top of the tailgate and getting at the water line from there as it was blocked. Not a simple task, but with patience you can easily get to it all.
