Hey all, thought I would share this with everyone. There is some info out there but I found it hard to find anyone that had a complete guide for the Range Rover L322.
So, I have installed an Iphone Dock for my Iphone 5 but this will work for any iPhone (just need to buy the applicable connector). The Dock connects your iPhone or iPod to your cars stock stereo and TV screen. The song names appear on the screen and they can be navigated via the stereo controls and the steering wheel controls which is the main reason I chose this method.
Here is what the finished product looks like:
Originally the area the dock is mounted was a coin/small things tray, sort of useless for my uses so I chose this area for the dock.
To start with we have to get the following hardware:
Intavee II (bought from toysinyourcar.com, was expensive, over $200 shipped)
Alpine KCA-420i (bought mine for $40 ebay)
HiRise dock by TwelveSouth (paid $40 ebay)
Ok, so the way this all works.
Your phone connects to the Alpine unit which then connects to the Intravee II and then into your stereo.
To do this there are several methods but (because I dont use my CD stacker) I removed my stacker and plugged by intravee into the existing input the the stacker used to be connected to.
You have to drop the glove box and remove some panels to do this but once you find the correct method it is not too hard. Here is a photo of the glove box dropped giving access to the CD stacker:
This is plug and play with no wiring required, all existing plugs connect to the intravee. Then the intravee will plug into your Alpine unit which in turn plugs into your iPhone or iPod. The Alpine unit comes only with the bigger old connector for iPhone 3/4 but I bought an adapter to suit my iPhone 5.
I connected all of this and placed it neatly in the tray the CD stacker used to be in like so:

Once this is done I ran the wires through the centre console and drilled a hole into the bottom of the small coin tray where I am placing the Dock. Now, the dock base is not the right size. I measured the coin tray to be 65mmx60mm with curved edges. Using a clamp and hacksaw I cut it to size then filed the corners smooth.
Once this was all fitting snug I sat it in and ran the cables in the dock and Presto! All done!
Very happy with the results. Looks great in the car and suits it well. Does not look like an aftermarket piece at all.
Hope this gives you some tips on how to get a Dock into your L322 Range Rover if you have an older model like mine.
