    EGR blank off

Had a few wines & went on Ebay not the best thing to do but better than going down to the RSL & playing pokies ( so I told the wife) .So ive ended up with a EGR blank on its way. So who has removed it and does it give the promised results.

Yes, fitted one to mine. Not sure how noticeable the difference was straight away, but when you see the amount of crud it deposits in the intake, you will be glad you did it.

When I had the head off mine recently, I cleaned the inlets runners right out so they looked like new. That seemed to make it idle and rev smoother.

    Inlet clean

    Hi Babs,
Ive heard its a good idea to pull the intake manifold off and clean it. When i had the D2, after the Remap & egt increase the inevitable manifold warp happened. I pulled it off & got a swap planed one extracted the broken studs and replaced it all. During this I noticed all the crud around the inlet . After cleaning &replacing everything it ran heaps better. Not sure how difficult the TD6 manifold would be to remove but if I do i may look at blueing and a port n polish.

The manifold is fairly easy to remove, but it's all plastic, so once clean, it is smooth as. . It was still a complete bugger to clean - I left mine in a mates spin wash for hours to shift it all. The inlet tracks are quite long. It comes apart into a couple of pieces, all sealed with o rings, which were fine for the most part, but I did replace the ones that contact the head as these were quite flat and I didn't want to use them again.
