Question Left hand mirror not dipping in reverse gear

The left hand mirror on my 2003 L322 only dips a very little amount when reverse gear selected.
It used to go down a lot more and give a view of kerb etc.
Anyone had this problem and if so what was the fix?
Your answers may shortcut my planned repair.

Yep, same here. I've not really looked at it yet.

Mine seems like it catches on something and the heater function on that mirror has also stopped working so my first thought is that the heater wire has broken and is what it is catching on. However that theory looks poor when I use the button to move the mirror lower and it seems to go all the way smoothly.

One day I will get around to it... May just need a good clean out and lube.

    Mine dips but

Mine dips down the full amont but then doesnt return to the set position always needs a to come up a touch. I am thinking it maybe beacuse of the seat, steering wheel memory. Yours may be the same. Try resetting your seat memory and see what happens.

I tried re-setting the seat memory but no good. So then I decided to not be so lazy and get my FAULTMATE out. When I read faults for BODY CONTROL I got the following message: "Passenger door mirror, Vertical Potentiometer Defective"

So I guess I now know what to buy in readiness for stripping the door to gain access.
As It seems that at least 2 other owners have similar issue I will post pics etc when I do the job

I have turned my left mirror dip feature on about three times in two years of ownership. I would consider it a blessing to not have it. My Dad has a Sport which dips both mirrors, making it near impossible to reverse.

I hear you but if it is working the option is there and sometimes I find it handy. If it is working and I don't want the feature at times I simply will switch it off.

    Potentometer

The old faulty potenometer trick same as in my transfer case . Probably be able to give it a clean and it will work again. Next time i dont rise to the occasion im blaming a faulty potenometer Lol

I like the dip mostly. It's so easy to flick off. I turn it off if backing the trailer.
