Is the rear cargo power socket supposed to be live?

Afternoon chaps...the manual says the luggage area 12v socket is live all the time, but mine isn't. It works when the ignition is on, but turns off as soon as you lock the car.
I know, this has probably been canvassed in a dozen other places, but damned if I can find it.
    It's a 2012 TDV8.
    Any tips much appreciated.

Yep, I figured that Chris, just wondered whether the manual is wrong. Presume so.

interesting, I'm sure it's live all the time in my old L322. I installed a 2nd plug off the 2nd battery so must admit to rarely using the factory outlet.

My 2003 L322 rear socket is live all the time, as it is supposed to be. Sometimes use it to recharge phone overnight, or run small fridge while parked/locked.

    Greg,
Maybe later ones need it programmed via diagnostics or at dealer?
There are quite a few options within the BCU that are selectively programmed.

I am pretty sure mine (07 MY) wasn't live all the time. It now is, running off the second battery.

Perhaps its like the D3/D4 where a relay can be replaced with a permanent link.

Mmmm....looks like a trip to the dealer for me. I don't have a second battery permanently fitted in the car, so it would have to be off the main battery somehow.
It's not a biggie, just wanted to know that the Engel would keep running if we stopped for half an hour here and there on a long trip this week.
Seems the owner's manual might be a bit out of date.

Mine's the first TD6 in Aus and the rear cig socket was ignition controlled....until the typical second battery kit was fitted like most others

Have to find a better battery to fit the hole mines on its way out....
