    Suspension bush pressing tools made

    Hi guys,

I have done the lower rear and lower front (inner) suspension bushes. Being stubborn I decided to press them out myself!

the rears were not to bad, there are a few write ups on the tools needed, i managed to make enough bits to get that done relatively easily after buying some 16mm threaded bar.

The front right lower, inner bush was a different story! I couldnt find any write ups on this one but in a manual online somewhere it showed using the same technique with a 12mm threaded bar (could use 14 but wouldnt have made a difference) so I attempted this with many broken bits of bar...

Stage 2 was using a 12T modified and parts from a compressor electric motor as the pressing tools. Boy did this take a while! it sheared 4x 10mm high tensile bolts and tore 4mm thick metal under that much force so i had to get creative and add more metal! Finally, after nearly maxing out the press it started to move, phew!

Got the new one back in and all was well, the second side was no where near as tight and didnt take long at all.

long story short, I have the tools available for use in melbourne if anyone gets stuck and wants to try it!

A press is on my xmas list. Be careful with those car stands, I had a pair of those, chucked them in the bin after the first use. The welds are pw.
