Hi Guys
Just wondered after how many ks should the filter be changed ?
Just do it once and put the one in that never needs replacing. If yours hasn't been done since you've had it, then do it. :)
I'm sure I have a spare replacement - the type that never needs to be replaced, so it stands that I shouldn't need it....
I was speaking with a BMW mechanic regarding routine servicing of the newer spin type filter and they still encourage replacement every 3 or so years. If you have every removed the EGR and seen the build up of crap in that I could only assume that the crankcase breather is subject to the same build up!
my EGR is long gone, blocked off.
AND the difference between the EGR and crank breather is the breather doesn't have the soot, it should be just oil. I know mine is - it is just a trickle of clean sump oil, not cruddy at all. It shouldn't block up and there is an easy way to tell - the oil will stop flowing...
Ditto - EGR went at the same time I installed the new filter. I also had the head off mine and everything - the head, manifolds, etc were all tanked so they were spotless when reinstalled, and without the EGR to crud them all up again, they should stay that way for some time.
What did you use to blank the EGR?
EGR blanking kit from Allisport. - Range Rover 3 Litre TD L322 EGR Removal Kit - AlliSport
