That should do the job fine. I noticed mine ran smoother after I fitted it, but it could have been pyscological. I know I'm happier knowing all that gunk isn't getting into the inlet any more.

After the new turbo and the manifolds and head being cleaned out, it now runs like a dream and is the best it's ever been since I've had it.

So I finally found a diesel mechanic on the Gold Coast that was kind enough to hire our a bosch injector slide hammer to remove 2 stuck injectors that were preventing me from removing the valve cover to access the Turbo.

the process of removal was quite simple with the slide hammer - simple remove the electrical connector on top of the injector being extra careful not to lose the small components, then screw the adaptor onto the thread that held the electrical connector and give it a few good knocks!

There would have been no way at all that without this tool that the injectors would have come out they were well and truly ceased in place. To the point where when removing the last injector (6) that the metal body of the injector had corroded so badly that there were small pin holes in the metal that when I gently pressed the metal broke away!!!

So if anyone knows a good place to buy replacement injectors from please feel free to let me know....have found them on eBay for about $360 each.

So with the injectors out I was able to remove the valve cover so i could access turbo for removal.

Using a rattle gun I removed the 3 bolts securing the Turbo to the exhaust manifold from above, then climbed under the car and removed bolts securing turbo to exhaust.

I managed to remove the turbo without taking off the exhaust manifold, however would be much easier to remove without manifold in place so have removed the exhaust manifold ready for replacement turbo.

With the turbo out on inspection there was considerable play which had caused fins to rub. You will see in the images below the damage to the fins.

Whilst turbo is out I will replace intercooler hoses....anyone have suggestions for replacements, I have found silicon replacement set on eBay from UK for about $250 landed.

Is it worth replacing the rubber valve cover gasket whilst I have it off?

Here is a pic of the crankcase breather filter when I replaced it.

Wow, never seen an injector like that - one of mine was stuck fast, but was still ok to be put back in service. The breather filter is not pretty and would have been the cause of the turbo failure I would think.

I replaced all the gaskets when I did mine out of due course. I didn't do the inter cooler hoses on mine as the originals were still fine.
