    Rotary gear knob trap

Got out to close a gate behind me and spotted the reversing lights on. Initially thought there must be a fault then realised that perhaps it really was in reverse so made a hasty escape out of from behind the vehicle then back inside to engage park.

When rotating the knob there's a hesitation at reverse before allowing movement to park. This works well for forward/reverse shuttling but was enough of a hindrance to make me think that park had been selected. The stick lever on the D4 had no such hesitation.

I've done the same Graeme. Fortunately, by chance and absent-mindedly, I'd lifted the park brake switch. Now I make a conscious habit of it, just in case.

Having been caught I'll be on the look-out at least for a while, probably by checking the notch count as I have a habit of counting everything.

It happened again but this time I didn't see the reversing lights until after closing the gate and heading back to get in.

I have determined a fault in that the reverse beeper only sounds for the first time reverse is selected after having been taken out of Park, whether that be directly from park or from any other switch position. I note there is an EUCD configuration entry for reverse gear chime that is set to "undefined" and other options of "without reverse gear chime" and "reverse gear chime". I will try to change this setting to "reverse gear chime" then see if the chime occurs every time.

Does this fault occur with any other MY12? IMO its a real safety issue that has to be corrected. The park distance control software is at the latest level available from BBS but that's inconclusive.

Edit: The safety risk has been addressed by turning on bongs whilst ever reverse is selected but hopefully the proper beep can be achieved as the bongs are very intrusive. The once-only short beep still occurs.

This particular fault is confined to multiple selections of reverse only if the vehicle is stationary, so not the blatant fault that I thought but could still catch people out even then. Therefore I'm just not hearing the beep, perhaps due to the radio, the leather everywhere and at least sometimes because I've opened the door before the beep occurs so I have to be more careful that park is actually selected.
