Faultmate and CCF changes MY11/12 TDV8

It appears that Faultmate cannot effect CCF changes to these vehicles.

After storing changed CCF data the ECM has to have its copy of CCF data updated (sync'd) with the BCU and this Faultmate function fails with an error, possibly because Faultmate does not seem to distinguish between 3.6L and 4.4L diesel engines on the MY10-12. Furthermore re-writing the CCF data or restoring it from a saved backup causes the ECM to seem to be bricked with fault P0602 (Powertrain control module program faulty - permanent) and the engine fails to start. However if instrument display messages are progressively cleared using the OK button then the engine will start and the ECM fault (now temporary) can then be cleared - a welcome result at 11pm and more than 2 hours after starting CCF changes!

The car configuration file (CCF) may be thought of as the electrical make up (or electrical DNA) of the vehicle......

Using a GAP IID tool for example on my car I turned on the hidden digital speedo between the dial speedo and tacho....when you are up here next I will let you borrow it and have some fun (charge: 1 beer or in your case GF I think a bloody nice red....lol!!!)

    Crazy Car Fanatic

In reality its just "Car Configuration File" which stores details of the vehicle, settings and functions...

The car configuration file where lots of parameters for the vehicle's set-up and operation are stored. Some are documentation only but most are used by one or more modules/ecus to tailor their operation.

I want to change quite a few settings, including the speedo configuration and tyre size to correct for the larger tyres, turn on various warnings and enable the headlights as DRLs to prevent day-time headlight swivel and corner light activation.

Edit: If I'd been briefer I'd have not been beaten by so many!

So had I employed the "Google is your friend" concept, I could have figured it out for myself!
You can start thinking about that red now, I cant wait to turn on a hidden speedo.......how much fun is that!

Obviously the Gap tool can change CCF settings even if the BBS tool can't! Does the Gap tool differentiate between the 3.6L and 4.4L engines for CCF changes?

Not certain - but I think so Graeme; Chris N (2008 TDV8) borrowed mine a few weeks ago up here in BNE to clear faults on his 3.6TDV8....and had no problems in doing so.

Ah, so you didn't make the change to show the digital speed on your vehicle - I misunderstood your quote.

The IID tool is good to allow reading and clearing faults on similar vehicles, with only advanced features tied to a VIN whereas the Faultmate wont allow reading and clearing on other than the particular VIN.

BBS have found a bug in their code and hope to have a fix available in a few days. Hopefully I'll get to make the desired changes.
