    MY12 - no off-road nav?

It seems that off-road navigation does not exist on my vehicle. Is this normal or am I not properly following instructions? Topix shows that it has navigation system level A, whatever that means.

I will check if mine does tonight Graeme....I note from the Handbook:

    OFF ROAD NAVIGATION

If available, access the Off Road Navigation
Menu by touching Destination Entry, then Off
    Road Point.

Off road navigation maps are similar to the
on-road maps but have additional features and
information, such as a large compass display,
heading, altitude, latitude and longitude etc.

When switching to off road navigation mode
    during on-road guidance, the current
highlighted route will be removed from the
map and on-road guidance will be suspended.

Way points and destination icons will remain
displayed. The destination is marked with a
    double circle.

Thanks Chris. Yes I noted if available and selecting an off-road destination didn't provide encouraging results.

Your one having been ordered with the rear e-diff might also have been ordered with off-road navigation - still level A though.

Yes, I checked topix and mine says "A" as well...

I just noted it says "Toolkit" too...I don't recall ever seeing that!
    cheers

Hi Graeme, I bought my RR new and prior to my first service, I had off road nav and a number of other features.

The Off road part of the nav and quite a few other things never worked again.

Not sure whether the dealership screwed it up or just a normal upgrade changed it from the UK features to an Australian RR version.

NOTE, prior to the first service, every time I wanted to watch TV I had to scroll through the Country of Use menu to get the Australian channels, because the menu was automatically set to the UK TV channels.

Also, after the first service, very little of my nag system every worked again, and was never fixed, no matter how many times I requested it be fixed at every service after the first one.

Did you ever see any Australian off-road maps? I suspect that there has been very little call for off-road mapping in these vehicles in Australia and perhaps it has never been provided. I might try changing the setup to another country (UK?) to see if any off-road functions become visible.

I've used off-road nav in mine Graeme, but all it seems to do is display a dotted line of where you've been, presumably so you can follow it back. Certainly doesn't show tracks from what I can figure out. Seems to me to be fairly useless. Hema might be the way to go for those who want serious off-roading.

I just learnt how to get into off-road navigation mode courtesy of fullfatrr.com - press the navigation button twice to bring up the menu for on-road or off-road navigation.

I created a route with a destination to the NE of where the vehicle is parked then selected that route, upon which verbal instructions were given as to the bearing and distance that I needed to travel.

I will see if I can find any useful maps, perhaps as would be needed to travel the cross-country section of the Hay River track where one has to find their way across a series of sand-hills between the ends of 2 tracks. The map shown for the above mapping exercise shows the council road to my front gate but not the track to my house that the 1:100 map shows.

I don't expect to use this feature as I will run Oziexplorer on a separate device as in previous vehicles but at least I now know that off-road navigation is included and how to access it. I could not find any reference to accessing off-road navigation in the owners manual.

You'd think in that Bible LR created they'd have been able to mention that minor issue somewhere wouldn't you Graeme?!! Thanks for the tip. I use a Hema HN7 on the dash and its sensational. Also doubles up as extra rear cameras (number plate for hitching) and back of caravan.
    cheers
