The tractor had blown an hydraulic hose which meant that the hydraulic steering box allowed the front wheels to go wherever they wanted. With insufficient traction to drag the front wheels at an angle up the hill it got left there to have the hose replaced before moving it under its own power again. At least it moved half a km whereas the old girl's predecessor, a 76 RRC, wouldn't budge a bogged dump truck full of sand.

Yes they are. It was extremely tempting to go with one of the Chinese-sourced brands (MDC are doing huge business across Australia), and Michelle and I did exhaustive research. Kicked a lot of tyres, poked and prodded all over the place.
MDC's product has dramatically improved over the last couple of years, and they look to be pretty solid trailers - and literally less than half the price of comparable Australian built ones.
But...they ALL seem to be so nose-heavy. And all much of a muchness. In the end, it came down to a choice between cheap and cheerful, or supporting a well-built, expensive Australian product.
But I think the resale will be much better, and I'm a lot more comfortable with warranty claims on a local product.

When we had our smash repair business I tow started our tilt-tray truck with my S3 shorty 2.25L 4cyl. Getting off the line and up through the gears (in low) to get enough road speed so the tuck driver could drop the clutch was a real challenge ... but it did it !!

Thanks Greg, at risk of being a little OT...(!) ...I had not heard of MDC so spent lunch time looking at them on the net; Lots of youtube videos etc and quite an impressive website (3D imaging etc). Interesting stuff.! Gee there is no shortage of choice in the camper / caravan market these days!!

Anyway, yours looks sensational so I hope there are many miles put under the wheels - behind the L322 ofcourse!
    cheers

...of course! And secretly, I didn't really want to be towing a cheap Chinese camper behind the world's best 4WD:-)

Yep, I was aware the early data was 4,000 kgm. Now to confirm what is the real limit for the 95 LSE, as opposed to a 100 standard - not that there should be any difference as outlined in Steve's (Rok Dr) post.
