You'll loose that argument because the compressor will be asked to do more work so will wear out sooner. However changing the height, whether it be lower or higher, can be very beneficial in some circumstances so the shortened compressor life is an acceptable consequence. I raise mine 30mm for the 6 kms between my house and the sealed road for improved comfort and increased body life from not bashing the bump-stops and regularly lower it 20mm below access and occasionally to the bump-stops for my wife.
