I won't be using it in rough terrain as unlike the offroad version it doesn't have the upswept tail... but yes we had it built for self sufficient long distance touring in remote places so wanted a decent chassis and suspension and good fitout with lots of solar, batteries and water etc. Tare is 2520kg and in normal touring use around 3000kg. Drawbar weight is 210kg. The dmax towhitch was a good height as is the 110 hitch but this one...😕

My 2.0/2.5T dual independent suspension van has its spare wheel under the draw-bar but destined for a rear carrier, although 2 really required so I'm uncertain of the final arrangement.

Hmmm. I bought a (higher) HR 21181 (the standard hitch receiver being too low) for towing a Bushtracker 21 foot and it sat perfectly height wise with a D035 hitch. I do note though the Van hitch was mounted UNDER the end of the A bar not on top. is this why you are experiencing the challenges we didn't?

I know BT give you a choice when you buy their van and the previous owner of our van had one of those multi height receivers on his 200 series and asked for the DO35 to be under the A bar not on top..

The plate for my van's coupling is across the bottom of the draw-bar with the coupling mounted on top of it. I cross the chains over the top of the receiver to keep them high and in line with their mount on the sides of the draw-bar.
