So got a quote, nice that it was quick....however....still cheaper to import 2 full strut assemblies rather than just a bag....wonder if they sell many...

I found out over night that the airline will not allow me to put these items in my luggage. I'd picked up there was an issue from the "Brothers in Lincoln" website where I get most of my parts (have done for over 30 years (TR8 Days!) so a little loyal).
So enquire with Dan at Duckworths and within an hour had a landed cost price Uganda! Delphi $1100.00, for the pair, courier included.
So will sort out today, They will be here on my return.
Pete: It did make me wonder what I would of done if this had happened in some remote game park or something. Very concerning and swapping for a simple Defender was on top of mind awareness yesterday LOL!
I note you can drive at 50klms/hr, still uncomfortable, a very long trip far from support and possible damage to other components.

Yes happened at the base, I think it must of been leaking for a little while as I had noted that the vehicle was settling slightly over night (dropping by 10mm or so) anyway lesson learnt.
I agree, be pro active. Thinking about it, the date stamp on the removed unit was 12/06, which means it is almost 10 years old.
Given the road conditions here + age, its not surprising I guess. Its a flexible bag that is in motion constantly. Not bad for 9.5 years.

This did happen to me in a remote location unfortunately.
however, my brain kicked in. I used a pair of pliers and a zip tie to kink and seal the line going into the airbag. this allowed the car to drive somewhat level and not throw a fault.
i drove the car 400kms home and around for the next week whilst i waited for parts.
a sharp turn wasnt the most plesant feeling and brake lock up would happen a little more easy in the wet. but a good trick for anyone who has a blow out.
If i was really smart i would have made up a line blocking kit so i didnt have to crimp a line...but im not so i havent
Im sure I read on here that someone jacked up the corner so the bag was expended, kinked the air line and stuffed the bag with sand or grass. They had to re-stuff it but it worked ok.
A defender will also fail, just in other places. My Isuzu 110 is about as simple as it gets. On a trip the fuel tank failed in multiple places.

Well that's a very useful idea for the archives thanks, at least as you say it will get you home.
Leaking fuel tanks, tell me about it. Did an expedition in PNG with a 100V8, 90 and an old series 2 109. We got 18 klms into the when the S2 fuel tank started to leak.
I had read an old trick of a soap bar and rubbing it against the hole/holes until it blocks said hole.
It works! 18 days of river crossing mud dust and rough track and the soap held.
