    4.4 TDV8 Restricted performance scare

Took off today only to be presented with the dreaded message. Funny, it wasn't there last night when doing some diagnostic tool testing that included the inability to start the engine after an attempted CCF rewrite, a known problem with a known recovery path. Anyway, decided that the almost total lack of performance unless heading downhill meant heading back to the house for diagnosis and hopefully a quick resolution then the old memory kicked in, recalling that the previous D4 had a similar problem one morning due to the wires to the MAP sensor having been chewed off overnight by a rat. Sure enough, the makings of a nest and 1 MAP sensor wire chewed through. A hasty solder job proved the fault cleared and no other faults have occurred since - a lucky escape I think!

You did a lot better than a young lady friend of one of my brothers.

Her two year old Corolla had been playing up for a while, eventually it stopped and was flat bedded to the local dealer.

Over a period of time rats had eaten two of the vehicles wiring harnesses.

After a six week wait for the parts, and paying all the costs, the vehicle was eventually back on the road.

Yes, there have been some bad cases. Maybe the culprit here will dine on some special food instead tonight.

yep, same issue here in Brisbane around 18 months ago. Identified problem before the rat(s) ate too much under the L322 bonnet. Our Hungarian Vizsla's ("Rigby") dog kennel was relocated pronto to reside beside the RR. A few dead rats appeared and nothing now in over 12 months.

The critters obviously know no class boundaries and presumably no dog boundaries either!
