Cheer up.
Your Perentie is closer.
Well, after many years it's finally time to say goodbye to the L322.
After a rocky start with the transmission issues it had, it turned into a wonderful car that made traveling long distances a breeze. The couple of times I took it offroad, it truly amazed me at its abilities and ease in which it goes places. Apart from that early issue, it only left us stranded once when the starter motor went to God - and that can happen to anyone.
The Diesel engine in these vehicles really is a peach and I'll miss the way it just went up any hill in top gear without even looking like it was going to slow down or even that it was working hard.
Designed in Germany, it always seems to want to cruise at 120 or 130 rather than plod along at 100 - I gave it a squirt today and 140 comes along quite quickly.I won't say on a public forum what speed I've had it to, but it's bloody fast for a 2 1/2 tonne brick.
SWMBO asked if it was too late to change our minds, she got a tad emotional knowing it's moving on.
So, tomorrow it starts a new chapter with a new family (well, barring a catastrophe like a meteor or something falling on it tonight). I wish them well and hope they enjoy it as much as we have. I just can't justify it sitting in the driveway only going to buy milk and bread on the weekend, so off it goes into the wild blue yonder....
I'll still frequent this forum and impart the knowledge I have on these superb vehicles. Maybe one day another may grace our driveway.
