    Broome & the Kimberley 2017 - who's a starter?

Even as you head home from one road trip, you tend to start thinking about the next one. So, as my bride and I headed south from a couple of weeks in the Kimberley last weekend, we started plotting the next one...twice as long, more stops, more fishing, more Broome time etc etc.

Anyone interested in part or whole?

Over a beer and lunch with Grant Fowler in Perth today (thanks Grant!), it started to gel. Starting early to mid July, we'll tow our camper trailer north through Meekatharra to Bilyuin Pool for an overnighter, then up past Newman onto the dirt to Nullagine and Marble Bar - the Ironclad Hotel - and a couple of nights at Coongan Pools. Fabulous spot under the cadjebut trees, had a night there this trip.

Then on to Pardoo Station and some fishing for a couple of days...Broome for a week (the Broome races) then up the Dampier Peninsula to Pender Bay for a few days - there's a guy from Darwin who'll have his 7 metre centre console there for fishing days - and maybe a day or two visiting Cygnet Bay and Cape Leveque.

Time permitting after that, a trip up the Gibb to Kununurra and some barra fishing at Hairy Dog's camp on the Ord River...and a multi-stop trip back down the coast to Perth.

That's the plan so far. I'm feeling full of confidence now that the L322 has just completed a 5,000km round trip towing a 1.7 ton camper with not a single issue:-)

Chris, you and Grant would be a monty for at least part of that trip, huh?

Best you guys get yourselves sorted quick smart. Friday night should do it Chris. Grant was pretty much there by the time I dropped him off at his car. What's taking you so long?

Well, it WOULD be a bit of fun...in fact you could make a joke out of it; "Three white Range Rovers drive into a caravan park in Broome..."

Ah, don't be like that Graeme - I'm sure the odd luridly-coloured one wouldn't worry the rest of us:-)

I might be up for it. It was a bit hot going through there in May so it wouldn't be a bad trip for July if you can fight your way through all the people. I'm sure a D4 and a Kimberley Karavan could crash the party and add to the ambiance without detracting too much from the Queens convoy. I think the younger royals use D4's anyway.
