Lifting the front wiper arms, is there special method?

For the life of me can figure out how those blasted front wiper arms lift up. Is there some crazy method involved.
Every other car allows the wiper arm to lift up for cleaning, replacing wiper blades etc.
Don't tell me you have to turn them on and then cut the ignition when they are in the sweep position or something stupid like that

I've just lifted them up when I've washed my beast. They dont lift up much but its enough to get the sponge to clean the area.
Think I've lifted them from the middle of the wiper section.
    cheers

Looking at this vid they come up a bit more than when I tried mine. I didn't pull up hard enough it seems , but I didn't want to force it. I only got about an 1inch and a tad.

My MY12's lift up and stay up - not very far but enough to clash with the bonnet if it's up.
