Auto trans I had to check for myself

When I purchased the Rangie the Dealer told me it had trans mod done to it. He said the trans was a ZF. I told him they came out with the GM one, but he corrected me and said it had a ZF in it.
well today I climbed under to have a look and found this tag on it.
and it is definitely a GM unit. Going by the tag so confirms what I thought.

Yep, but the dealer insisted mine had a ZF, I didn't go on with it.

The problem I've found with "most" dealers/salesman, is they seem to know squat about the car they are trying to sell.
My theory is they jump ship to the next brand before they've learnt the current. They seem to think if they take it for a quick spin around the block, that gives them the knowledge. Between that and "I'm just the salesman" they just don't seem to have any pride in what they do, or the car they sell.

I think you got your car from the same place as me. He told me I had an E-Diff... I don't!

    Yes same place.
He also told me that the sump on the pan had been replaced with a metal one., As far as
I know they didn't come out with a plastic one. He must have got confused with the D3.
Mine has the original BMW sticker on it saying sealed for life and if service is required it lists the fluid part number.
