Hi.
I am using bilstein shocks. At a cost of $250.00 each.

I have been advised (at my rego inspection) that one of my rear shocks is weeping oil, and should be replaced.
This vehicle will no doubt spend 80% of its time empty and on the black top, but 20% hauling a 2.3t trailer over Aussie rural roads and tracks...
I can get Munroe RPD500260 (@ about AU$195) locally but what are other owners using?

Years ago I fitted Munroes to my RRC. They were so soft that I told Munroe that the shocks must be faulty so they sent another set exactly the same. I haven't touched Munroe since.

Jason,
did you get these locally, or direct from OS supplier?

I used Munroe in mine, it made a vast improvement. I picked mine up for under $200 for the pair. Cheap, yes but the vehicle really only ever did on road driving. If you were touring, maybe something different but I've used Munroes in various vehicles over the years without issue.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

Called Bilstein today and they advise that they no longer supply rear shocks for these vehicles as they had such a high failure rate in Australian conditions. The shocks are ok for highways but users who went off the bitumen had highest failures.
Looks like I could get them from USA @$400 plus freight and take a punt, or go Genuine @$950/pr from dealer or go for Munroe, now @$320/pair delivered from Aussie supplier or @$210 from UK delivered!
