Should be interchangeable between 5l40e. Best ask Rhys at Furious Performance. He is a 5l40e guru.

Tough question, you may have to track down a gm transmission specialist and ask them.

I don`t know , seems they physically fit but may not drive as desired .

The link gives plate numbers to application .

Seems the obvious difference between early and later is early has a larger black Holley solenoid and later has a smaller silver Bosch solenoid .

Ok have had them side by side when box was apart a few months ago physically look the same apart from the accumulators didn't do a number check
I'm actually using the Commodore accumulators at the moment seems to give a more firmer shift!
My reverse at moment is delayed and im hoping its the valve body

As Justin said, Rhys in the Guru on these boxes. I'll shift this thread to the L322 forum as well.

Oh, and just merged them as I didn't realise youd started again here.
If you need to contact me please email homestarrunnerau@gmail.com - thanks - Gav.

seems to be there all the time... hot or cold..
Am going to monitor it over the next few days,
This trans had burnt the reverse clutch at around 100thousand ks
pulled pan (never been opened) replaced oil (black & burnt) and filter drove for another 40k working not to bad till the front drive shaft stripped its splines
Has taken a while till I was in a position to put back together
Have replaced all clutch packs, seals & pressure control solenoid.
Clutch pistons all tested ok, all bearings and shims ok.
torque convertor when opened was just about to go metal to metal
replaced with HD unit 400 rpm lowered stall.
    also installed Sonnex boost valve
