    Low range gone

Had the yellow low range light flashing yesterday, couldn't select low range. Now light isn't flashing (it's off), but still can't select. Any ideas?

Hi mate, the transfer gear change is controlled my an electric solenoid.. I did some research on this and found this, ( there is a problem with lack of use that causes the contacts to burn a spot on the plate causing loss of contact, the motors are quite expensive to replace new, this guy found a fix. Second link is for brush failure
    Regards, Mario

Thanks very much guys. It seems to have righted itself after a rest overnight, but I'll be saving these links for later- somehow I'm sure I'm going to need them...

Update: Trans started slipping while driving up a moderate hill in the 'burbs, then complete loss of drive. Transfer box light flashing again. Trans had spat what seems like its entire contents all over the road, called RACV for a flatbed. Prolly the pump, I'l find out this arvo. Damn thing was rebuilt around a year ago... oh well, at least the trans fluid was nice and clean

Edit: Was a split hose to the (huge!) external trans cooler that was fitted when I had the trans rebuilt. Oh well time for a service anyway. I'm still none the wiser as to what was causing the flashing in the first place, there was no sign of fluid loss until now. It's possible the hose was damaged when offroad, it's now being routed closer to the trans where it'll be protected by the bash plate.
