    L322 phone cradle mounting point

A few months ago I made this mounting point for a phone cradle. I did this to avoid drilling into the dash anywhere.

Here are a few pics in case someone wants to do something similar.

    L322 phone cradle mounting point

It's mounted by sliding the 90mm edge (pic above) in between the "wood" trim and radio head unit. I opened a gap using a plastic spatula. I initially tried double side white tape to help secure the mount. But that didn't work well, so smeared a very little bit of silicon onto the mount. When I removed the spatula the gap closed and held the mount firmly in place.

Brilliant. What thickness is the sheet metal?

    $50 option is also tempting!

    I'd be guessing. Maybe 0.9mm.

Things plastic seem to get broken in my car. So a plastic mount didn't appeal.

The one Chris put up is probably very good quality. I couldn't find one for $50 delivered when looking. From memory about twice that.

This thing cost a little time, and steel/paint I already had. So not much. Functions perfectly.

I have been using one of the 'holdmyphone' frames since December last year. I used a Quadlock mount and use it for phone or 7" tablet. I have not yet used the supplied double sided tape, so in rough country it does slip down a little, but so far never fallen out.

I ordered the one from the link. Straight away got an email saying it's on backorder but should be available within a week which is ok.
