You'd think this would work considering it's Apple themselves who provide it.

Hi, I’m visiting from the Discovery page with a question for a mate. He has a 2010 model and the sound system came with an old 30 pin cable hard wired into the cubby, not a simple USB plug. When Apple moved to the lightning plug he lost the ability to play music from his phone.
He tried a converter plug and had no luck. He even asked the dealer if they could upgrade the cable “yeah, nah”. Has anyone had any luck in fixing this issue and getting music from their phone via the cable? I could not find anything in search but if there is a link to a previous discussion please let me know.
Thanks JH

The 30 pin to lightening adaptor should work as it did on mine, maybe his cable or port has an issue?
I then bought one of these to replace the 30 in to lightening adaptor, and my iPhone 7 now connects by Bluetooth every time; without needing to plug in and place in the console.
