    Roof clear peeling

The clear coat on my L322 roof is peeling. I’m quite pi55ed off as I cleaned it every week and waxed it regularly.

I got a quote which included the bonnet and upper tailgate as these are likely to go next. The plastic gutter strip is in very poor condition. The upper tailgate spoiler seems ok.

Has anyone else had this happen? Here’s a pic.

    Roof clear peeling

I’m more inclined to blame the bean counters. Saving even a $100 a car is a big deal.

Hi Pete. I had this problem with my Disco 2 but not with the Disco 3. When I bought it the owner told me it had been meticulously looked after .. washed, polished, waxed etc every few months (including the roof). After a couple of years of ownership (giving it the same kind of attention) it deteriorated to such an extent that I considered getting it repainted. I have no idea why it got so bad. It was garaged very night unless we were away.

    Cheers
    Steve

    Thanks gents.
Just getting the metal roof done is almost bearable. The bonnet and tailgate add about another $1k. But probably worth doing now. I’m buying the RANGE ROVER lettering myself.

The problem is the labour before painting, a good panel shop will want the windscreen out,( risk of breaking ,factor in new windscreen) the sun roof removed and the tailgate removed just to do the roof.
If a panel shop only does the elcheapo method of just taping the edges, then you risk the paint lifting and peeling from the edges. Which I have seen with short cut jobs.
