L322 is a great touring vehicle

I knew it was, but today loaded up the L322, drove about 650km. And got out feeling ok. Oh what a feeling.

The 3.6 is running like a dream with 267,000km. (Now where’s my timber stash. )

Agreed. After the Mods and Admins get-together in Qld last June, I drove back to Sydney. I planned to do it in two stages - 580km from Jandowae via Texas to Tamworth, stop overnight, then 400km home.

I got to Tamworth and still felt good so I thought, "I'll go to Singleton". I got there and was still feeling good, so finished the last leg via Putty Road. I got home just before midnight having done just over 1,000km in 14 hours including stops for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

I got out of the Rangie with not a trace of back pain. I can't go down to the shops in the Forester without hobbling when I get out of it.

The only vehicle I've had that I actually felt refreshed after a long journey.

That’s a pretty good effort Ron.

I had a few diversions along the way, e.g., photo opportunities.

I came across an interesting old town, Kumbia, in Qld so I stopped to make breakfast and then walked around taking pics.

I also wanted to check out Texas. My grandfather was born there. My great-grandfather, Thomas Beckett, was a blacksmith there before he went to Brisbane where he was a maker of Condamine Bells. Australian Cow Bells - Queensland Bell Makers & the Famous Condamine Bell

I also saw a sign for the National Transport Museum at Inverell, so I had to stop there. 😀

    AREN'T THEY JUST LOVELY!

    Hey Ron,

My Mrs scored an early one a while back... see pic's (if I can load them)... can't get her out of it. Including a recent 4 hour trip from Melbourne beyond the Great Ocean Road and into the bush camping with our 2 boys... all on her own.

Must say, I prefer my old P38 though... until her's gets some proper rubber and takes me bush properly. I also haven't gotten used to that clattering BMW diesel noise yet. Might need to find a petrol V8 one for me if it grows on me a bit more.

    Hoo-Roo,

    Dave

Best part of my day lately is the time i spend in this marvelous vehicle.

Comfortable, powerful and economical with a kicking sound system😎.

Can't see myself leaving the l322 model any time soon😍

Just home now from a 4000km trip in 2 weeks 5 days. I doubt I could have done the same trip in the same short time in the Perentie wagon. Went from Brisbane to NSW & Vic. We went to Canberra, NSW Snowy, Vic Alpine Region, Kelly country, Lakes Entrance, Fish Creek, Wilson’s Promotory, Phillip Island, Mornington Peninsula, Dandenongs (Puffing Billy), Melbourne CBD walking tour, Otway treetop walk, Apostles/lLondon Bridge, Port Campbell, Ballarat (MADE & lake), Bendigo CBD, Echuca, Tocumwal, Dubbo/Zoo, Goondiwindi & Home.
    Some pics to follow.
No show stoppers. A stone through the tread block of the ever reliable Cooper AT3s on a track between Omeo and Dargo. The check brake pads warning was ignored from about Sydney. I’ll try to check that electrical fault on the week end.
Now up to over 271,000km and running like a dream.

The upper reaches of the Murray River from Towong near Corryong.

Corryong was one of many small towns absolutely loaded with history. This trip would have taken me a year if left to my own devices. L322 is a great touring vehicle

A pic of interest from the Corryong museum.

And the man from snowy river himself.

Also I found the WW2 Jeep trailer outside where we stayed.

    More to follow.
