    L322 ABS not communicating??

Hi everyone, You have heard it all before, I bought an L322 2002 BMW 4.4 and it looks good. A good price, I thought, lol.

Now the car was owned by the owner of an engineering firm and he had it for 10 years, 8 years as a daily driver. Then it was "stored" for 2 years ( so, here is one issue already - battery). It cost too much as a business car , so he replaced it with a Colorado, with his business name all over it.
Then he pulled it out of storage, put four new tyres and a brand new battery for obvious reasons and then............ the three amigos appeared! Air Supsension inactive, HDC inactive and DSC inactive.
So, upon reading the various threads and numerous issues to look at on this and another forum, I decided the following:-
    1. Clean and tighten battery terminals.
    2. Check all other earth's in vehicle.
    3. Check all fuses and all relays - all checked out both visually and with a metre.
    4. Ordered a RSW Solutions MK111 All Comms Diagnostic tool.
    5. While that was on the way I took car to Supercheap and placed it on their ESI(tronic) diagnostic tool (Bosch) - I got 48 errors showing and 22 page print out. After clearing errors , only 4 remain. ( only cost $28 too) Looks like most of the error codes were historical.
The errors were 1. 189 Output, braking pressure adatption - fault due to external control unit. 2. 50 CAN bus ( Air Suspension ) error present 3. & 4. 167 FR and FL door control unit 1.2 unknown fault.
    6. So I checked the ECU connections etc and fuses and then the ABS UNIT.
7.The RSW Solutions unit rocked up and I tested everything, and the ABS UNIT failed to communicate.
This ABS unit electrical connection had water in the connector of the ABS Control Unit, that was rusty and it was about 8mm deep at one end.
So........ I cleaned out this being careful of the fine pins then used Isopropyl alcohol spray to clean the female side as well, left it to completely dry.
    8. Tested again, same messages basically failed to communicate to system.
Still have the three amigos and their lights on startup and driving.
    9. I thought it might have been the SAS and the wheel alignment, but that has been checked as it dead straight. Plus the MK111 bit of kit read out of the steering was spot on too.

It is a long bit of bribble here, but I need direction please. I am 61 years young ish, and I do have a P38 2000 model, so I understand the need for patience with these beasts. But do you guys think I am up for an ABS ECU or is there other things I can look at ? Any help is muchly appreciated.

Also, The Air Suspension is suspended at normal height and will neither go up nor down. The Pump does work, and the front was kneeing when purchased, but after I bought it I was able to easily level the car. Again, doing the full lock to lock does NOT do anything to help clear or reset any faults, I am assuming because the SAS is fine.
I have since cleaned / air pressured the ABS sensors and cleaned around the height sensor areas etc.

Thanks for replying, yes you are correct there.
But I have run the diags over the car and the SAS does not come up with error codes and when I look at the live data, it show that the SAS is functioning correctly.
The SAS was one of the first things that I read online here that could do that especially when the car has brand new tyres done just after it had a new battery installed. I have not asked the previous owner if he did a wheel alignment yet. I got under the car as well to check the tie rods ( I think they are called) to check the amount of thread. The amount was equal on both sides; and steering is dead straight.

    G`day ,

70-24 has the abs connector i think your taking about and tells what each pin does .

Have to suspect as the related problem or maybe the water between pins has done something by creating circuits that aren`t supposed to be .

May be useful , you may already have it .
