I have had three TDV8 (2008) now that have experienced the same fault. In each case it was about the time that I was towing a van (or just after). Under heavy load, or high revs, the pressure in the intercooler hoses increase and with higher temperatures the hose splits. The hose directs compressed air to the cooler out near the radiator and then returns to the turbocharger.

On each occasion the split has been in the left hand hose (viewed from the front of the vehicle) and cannot be seen unless you remove the hose, as it is on the underside.

Two clips hold the hose in place and it is easy to remove.

The last time that it happened, I was away from a Landrover dealer and had the van on the back. So I was forced to carry out a quick repair to keep moving. Removed the hose, found the split, cleaned it up to try to remove excess oil, then applied plenty of superglue to the split area and wrapped up the area with a 100mm strip cut from the bottom of an old tee shirt. Followed up with tape that I purchased from a servo and this allowed me to get home. It was about 1,000km, so it was a bit of a nervous trip. One tip could be to try to run the transmission in manual to keep the engine revs down, to avoid high pressure in the intercooler hose.

This has been my experience, which might not be exactly what you have had.

    Thanks Alan.

I took the vehicle back to M R who replaced 4 small induction hoses (one of which was 'pitted' & split) and the others showing signs of deterioration. I recently replaced the intercooler hoses with silicon ones.

A week later I towed the van to Sydney and back without incident apart from an annoying shudder later into the trip which happened mostly whilst travelling through the 50km zones of NSW towns. (That shudder seems to have been rectified by adding 2 tubes of Dr Tranny Shudder Fix to the auto transmission).

The car is currently running nicely without issue
