One for a D3 would be good.
This is an Android unit, pretty much a no-name one from China but it's designed to fit properly in the L322 dash and give a reasonably OEM-ish look. There's a few places selling them.
Has all the bells and whistles in it though; CD/DVD, Radio, DAB+ Digital Radio, i-Go Navigation, Reversing Camera, OBD2 monitoring via Torque App, phone screen mirroring, etc, etc
Also connects to the iBus so you have steering wheel controls, etc.
This L322 had the old BMW navigation and DSP amplifier, we got a little black box (actually it's red LOL) from Russia which lets you keep the DSP amplifier fitted, so no need for major wiring changes.
Just thought I'd share in case anyone is looking to do something similar.

There's heaps of different options for a D3, as either a double din where the factory radio is, or in the spot where the factory touchscreen goes.
There are even kits where you can keep the factory touchscreen and amplifier functional and have an aftermarket head unit (i.e. Android unit) in place of the radio.

RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
The last one I bought didn't need the Red box, it just connected straight into the O.E loom and all worked.
BMW DSP amplifier Turn-ON interface TRIOMA | eBay
You still need the DSP bypass cable that runs from the head unit back to boot, plus running the additional pair of RCA's, and other wiring for the camera, DAB+ antenna, and depending on who's bypass cable you buy you may also need additional GPS and AM/FM antenna cables (coaxials with Fakras, I made them myself), also an additional adaptor cable was needed to keep the factory GPS antenna.
The installation instructions for the red box are also not clear/correct, seems like they were translated from Russian to German to English... the German version was better, but still with errors...
I had to run an additional remote wakeup wire from the head unit to the red box and the amp to get it going.
And whatever DSP setting you had selected before the factory radio is removed, get's locked in the amp settings, so turn it all "off" before you pull it apart otherwise it's turned on forever, they never mention that!
Removing the factory MFD and Radio also caused some problems from a diagnostic point of view. I don't know how it goes with a Nanocom but when I connected up the T4 Mobile+ to the car I could not run any personalisation routines until I changed the vehicle specification to "without radio, without navigation, without DSP" and although that would allow personalisation changes, any diagnostic checks would still throw up errors because of the missing modules...
The Chinese Android head unit also comes with no installation manual and the wiring is tagged in Chinese and some pretty shocking translated English abbreviations... lots of fun figuring that out...
The first time is always the hardest...
If the cars have the low-spec audio without the DSP amplifier then they are just "plug & play", it's the DSP amp that makes it messy.

looks like the exact same unit I bought, not 100% on the x5 angle fitting in the range but I am past that now it just works and I can read the display
mines not great in direct sun at all. Took me a little while to match the green on the lighting to the rest of the dash. all minor things - money well spent in the end, I wish digital radio was everywhere.......

When I am back where the car is I will have another look, there was an app buried in the settings with a colour picker and control for strobing multi colours etc......
I honestly cant remember the brand, but it looks exactly the same as the one pictured in this thread.
I just found a pic on my phone from where I was fitting it.

On this one there was an option in under the Settings to change the lighting but it had a strange name that didn't make sense.
It brought up a page with three sliders of red, blue & green which you could adjust to make a custom colour, and on the right side of that screen were a number of preset colours in a grid, and one of them was a rainbow, which cycles through all the colours.
