The entry level tdv8 MY08 was about $160,000 and SC was close to $200k.
Yes they have their known issues but most can be mitigated. Mine has nearly 300,000km on it but has been serviced every 10,000km. The one big repair for me has been trans output shaft issue, which also affected some L320s & D3s. Result was new trans and transfer. I was lucky to pick up a low km trans/transfer combo for $1500.
At the end of the day they are ten year old land rovers..
Mine was a bucket list car to own and now I'm about to get a company car again it's either the defender or the RR and sorry, I don't even intended to sell my defender..
My normal day is 150'k round trip and they make for very comfy motoring..
Servicing is no worse than my defender and in the last twelve months other than brake pads, a intercooler hose and some sway bar link its been great but none of any of the ones I've seen are ever without their "quirks" including mine...

Hi Ladies and Gents
We to had those doubts but after taking her for a drive there was no doubt in my mind it was a buy of the century. Body has some
scratches nothing that can't be fixed , Transmission had the occasionally rough kick down but a transmission flush and steel sump
conversion restored it to perfect condition. We also changed diff oils, transfer case and engine oils and runs perfect with plenty of
power. Also the interior is very tidy after a decent clean. I have ordered a pair of EGR Emulators so looking forward to fitting those.
Compared to our 2004 l322 TD6 we had (we found a little sluggish) in the past its like chalk and cheese the 2008 TDV8 vogue is the best car by far we have owned.
Congrats. Well done. Good luck with it.
I think emulators make a difference. I also think induction cleaner is worth considering.
I think it was amazing value and that these are an under rated vehicle. But I’m biased having owned one for 4 years.
I found this to be an economical but effective product for cleaning leather and plastics. One lt bottle costs about $10 from Bunnings.
