Falcons had the Ford version of the 6hp box. AFAIK the problem with the straight 6 L322 was that the box was over-stressed by both the torque of the engine, and the weight of the vehicle. BMW using up parts they had left over, rather than the proper specced ones! (Personal opinion)

Correct, the falcon trans was not built by ZF but built by Ford under licence from ZF.

It’s one of the many versions of the 6hp transmissions. Versions include the 6hp26 fitted various makes and models that also had the 6.0l w12 motor which pumped out up to 450kw and 650nm in cars such as the Bentley Continental GT which is also quite heavy (but about 350kg lighter than L322).

I know concern has been raised before about how closely the max power/torque of the 3.6 tdv8 is against the max capacity of the 6hp26 in RRV, but I haven’t heard of one breaking because of too much power/torque from the motor. They do fail for other reasons occasionally.
    L322 tdv8 poverty pack - wow

from memory, the torque converter in the v8 is 30% bigger than in the v6.
so in the v8 its less of a concern

just a thought, these cars are hitting the 10 year old mark.
most cars have a price cliff at the 10 year mark.
