Considering L322 purchase - what contingencies to allow for

    Hi Guys,

I have been offered a 2003 L322 Td6 with 320k kms, full dealer service history, trans rebuilt at 280k kms and current RWC from servicing dealer. It is sub $10k and has some cosmetics that need tidying up that I have costed to round $2k. It drives really well and engine is quiet and very smooth.

Given the mileage, what unexpected dramas should I allow for?

    Cheers, Charles

    Hi Charles,
    Make sure everything electric works.
The engine in these will go forever with regular oil changes.
Check to see if the crankcase breather has been changed over to the newer type(will never need changing then).

If you buy it, change transmission fluid and do so on regular basis(20 K's).

See how long it takes to raise and lower suspension. If it takes forever there is a kit from UK that will rejuvenate it.

When raised see what the bags look like,if getting lots of cracks around them get some new ones in from UK for when you have to change them.
Other people will chime in with more hints as to what too look out for.
    Good luck
    cheers

    Thanks Gazza,

I will check the breather and airbags when I go over the car in detail tomorrow.

All electrics work and the suspension raises & lowers quite quickly so all seems good on that front.

    Cheers, Charles

Thanks Ron - I had an idea that fluid requirements were very specific, so really helpful.

Didn't you have ongoing issues with yours after a rebuild/ did it get it sorted in the end?
