    Fuel consumption, again....

I know i know, cracked record and all that, but for me, Graeme, and the other lucky 4.4tdv8 owners on here this is still a source of amazement no doubt. Getting 9.2 to 9.4 /100 , correct at pump figure, ( my dash says 7.8!!) In a 2.7t vehicle being driven in a mix of city and rural hilly terrain, is astounding.

Mine's normal good economy will be tested on sandy tracks in a couple of months - it might not be so good there!

have to say your amazement is no surprise ... with the risk of incriminating myself, I think some of us members flippantly reading these threads may be a tad jealous ...

Thinking on the topic of fuel use on my D1 and I'm now struggling to get 12l/100 now with roof rack fitted.
I got it with the requirement that it needs to net me 10 or less lt per 100 to have been a viable purchase.

Whats amazing is how far cars have come. Big heavy lump of a vehicle with such a powerful motor, using so little fuel(by comparison to what we're used too).

True story, brother got his TD5 as a result of having owned a Patrol(4.8) GU something or other.
Had head gasket issues, which caused other issues, and his main reason for abandoning it as a long term proposition wasn't the issues the car had .. it was the prospect of it gulping through 33lt/100 on a long term basis that made the decision easy for him.

Pics are heading back into Brisbane this morning after a few thousand km’s out in the channel country. Mainly fast gravel roads and bull dust. This is a stock L405 SDV8 and was on 13.5 when I left Brisbane after a service and DPF regen. The L322 with remap and egr blank would do 10 to 10.5 for the same trip.
