Beautiful LR... not sure the new RR's match up..
After many months of questioning, searching, researching, investigating and looking, I have finally picked, what I think, a tidy L322 TDV8. It is an 07 with 180k on the clock, in Stonaway Grey. I had it checked out by GCA here in Sydney and came up reasonably good, it has a great service history. There are a few issues but nothing major and these will be taken care of within the next couple of months. The seller even filled the tank, maybe to get me as far away from him as possible. It is a dream to drive and the power, after my classic, is amazing. Thanks to everyone who answered my question with patience and wisdom. I will now look around for some 18” wheels before I by some new shoes for her.![]()

I agree the L322 is closest to the Classic, but to me it's the best looking Rangie, particularly the 2010 - 2012 update version. I know I'm showing my age, but I prefer the L322 dash over the newer hi-tech versions in later cars.
Apart from wheels any other improvements, for her?

Very nice, and looks like you picked up the lux version.
I have the 2007 MY2008 which now has 290,000km approx. You can read about my mechanical issues over the last 5 years of ownership, some expected others not.
They are such a nice machine to drive, well thought out and extremely capable off road.
Complexity and age are is its main vulnerabilities. But that applies to any modern 4WD. I wouldn’t expect any modern 4WD to be fixed on the side of the road, unless a really simple problem like dead battery or out of fuel.

I do plan an EGR delete and map out or emulators, I need a roof rack or bars and I would like to get the LR front bar, the only one you can fit on these, to mount an aerial and lights. We plan to do some touring with a small van so duel batteries etc will also be fitted, it already has the tow bar attachment. I have a couple of things that were picked up in the pre purchase that need doing but nothing major. The exterior is in top condition, the interior is good but the seats are a little worn, leather repair will fix that. RAR where did you buy your delete kit and emulators? I will also need to get some sort of diagnostic tool, Nancom, Gap, Foxwell maybe Carsoft????? We don't plan to start our travel for about 12 months so I have plenty of time to sort out any bugs.
This thing is just awesome to drive, after the classic the acceleration is stunning, yes it is the Luxury version. I am now spending countless hours trying to workout how everything works.

As far as a diagnostic tool, the GAP IID Tool is used by over 90% of members on Ffrr and many here; it is a great companion for a L322. I would recommend buying the Blue Tooth version for convenience

Bell Auto Services in the UK sell the tool with options for a re-map and EGR delete, it's a popular option depending on what state of tune you want ? I believe they can pre-load the files on a new IID tool, or you send them a copy of your ECU file and they remap the file and send it back to you and using the IID tool you upload it to the car yourself.

I 2nd the IIDtool. It has paid for itself in my case. Quite simply it will give you info to understand a problem and save you taking it somewhere to diagnose a problem (and cost) with a convenience to do your own research on the problem to determine the best repair option.
In my case I had a light come up on the dash - indicating an air bag problem. It was actually a power interruption to the pretensioner, caused by a wire connection when the seat was in a certain position (every time my wife got in the car and moved the seat to her position). I was able to zip tie the wire so it didn’t move when the seat moved and problem solved without replacing any parts.
Re map out or Autocode Emulators, I’ll sit on the fence. I would go map out EGR if it’s fully mapped out to the extent you can remove the EGR and associated coolant pipes (my next job). I have emulators which work fine. Straight up i would fit blanking plates.

I intend to blank out completely so I think I will also map out. Looking at a Gap IID BT. Would D4 18" rims fit an 07 TDV8, I don't think it has Brembos.
