Rear parking sensors can "see" the towball

Hi guys - question time.... re 2007 3.6d Lux
I'm now getting to the end of my 2007 fixup project, just a few little things to do including:
I have a non-standard towbar and it is quite annoying as the parking sensors can see it and just go off constant (telling me not to reverse into my towball) - rendering them pointless. Interesting thing is the same towbar fitted on the 2004 car didn't do this and the sensors worked fine.
I've read about some D3/4 people twisting the inner two sensors a bit and other talking about fitting a plastic semi circle over them. The stick on plastic option is an easy one - not sure about the look - twisting the sensor will require bumper off.
Has anyone tried it on the L322?

					Hi Harlie,
I have a similar problem, same car but with a bike rack. My mechanics, Graeme Cooper in Sydney, are looking into deleting the sensors from the ecu/bcm. If this can be done and is successful I will let you know.
On the other hand, I have yet to run into my bike rack so the sensors must be working!!!!
Cheers,
Phil.

Sensors can be "deleted" but I don't want to do that (would stop being lazy and remove the towbar).
And before the champions start with their "real drivers don't need sensors" or "back in my day...." - The car has a convenience feature, it's a convenience, back in my day no one had a mobile phone - I don't hear the real drivers giving up their mobile phones - or any other modern convenience.
When I use the bike rack, the sensors auto disable as the rack has a numberplate light plugged into the trailer light socket.

I don't have lights on the bike rack, I will now rather than cancelling them out.
Thanks Harlie.
Cheers,
Phil.
