Yeah I have my doubts about those kits, because they make a blanket statement 2002-2012 but there's four different "systems" over that time period.
2002-2004 is the BMW system, i-Bus for everything
2005-2006 is the Gen1 Denso with gateway module for MOST security, head unit is under the screen, MOST but with i-Bus for SWC
2007-2009 is the Gen1 Denso with the instrument cluster for MOST security, head unit is under the screen, MOST but with i-Bus for SWC
2010-2012 is the VN Denso with no MOST security, the head unit in the passenger footwell, with LIN-Bus for SWC
The BMW system has quadlock connectors, the Denso has different connectors at the head unit.
The Android unit I put in this 2003 did not come with any MOST connections. You will need a separate MOST-AUX box to run the factory amp (and nothing else on the MOST network; TV, Phone, Rear Seat Entertainment, etc will work).
You would also need to customise the wiring harness because it only comes with Quadlock, will not connect to the factory wiring in a 2005MY-onward.
For the i-Bus App you need to buy a Resler USB interface, it's not built in to the head unit. You can get those from the i-bus app shop where you buy the app itself.

Guy on FF is using the unit listed for BMW E53 (which you would for early L322) - it has single DIN body behind the screen.
There are others listed that don't mention BMW, they have a square frame around the screen and there is no single DIN body, just a heat sink - and they are 3x the price.

For sure Cambo, your installs look awesome and these setups are your profession. This is just a DIY guy
Personally, just trying to add to the thread of info I've found over time poking around the interwebs. For us in QLD, getting to you is a bit difficult so appreciate the posts about upgrades to the L322 as you do. Hopefully be useful to some poor soul that can't get to someone thats in the know.

Cambo, did the unit for the 2002-2005 you used look like this? Front looks the same as the pic above, the 7" unit I installed in my old RR had the same single din back and connectors.
This is what the guy on FF linked to above has used.

The ones I am looking at for my 07/08 look a little different - and have a different price range. From the front, the bezel has a flatter profile, the back is completely different and the supplied plug pack looks different.
Can see in the first pic it is labelled "For 05-12 Range Rover".

I'd like one but I keep thinking about selling the L322 so i don't want to over-capitalise.I bought a PiBus board and a Raspberry Pi a few years ago to do the upgrade PiBUS - A Raspberry Pi-BMW Interface Board but never got around to it. I did the digital TV mod PTV - Digital TV interface board for BMW but got no further (that was a waste of money, reception is so poor. Probably better to use a mobile phone and stream).

Harlie, I think later in the post that the guy said there were newer versions that didn’t have the big back in them, just the flat back. Might have been the 06+ post.

No I didn't mean it like that. I just thought it was funny that someone else has already figured it out, and I would have been trying to re-invent the wheel because i'm not on that forum and wouldn't have seen that post without you sharing it.
Yes that looks exactly like the one I installed in the 2003.
Thanks for the pics, so it looks like they have a plug & play harness from the factory head unit, but I am still a bit puzzled that they aren't differentiating on the model year ranges, because of the steering wheel controls.
And I don't see any external box in the pics for the SWC adaption, like what you see in the pics BMW unit for i-Bus. There are similar boxes for LINbus too. But they don't show anything here.
