    Immobiliser

    Hi all,

    Need help.

My03 rangie has a starting problem, can put key in ignition and turn to 2 position and when turn to start, nothing happens.

Done the fuse 18 remove and waited etc and still nothing.

Disconnected the battery and waited and nothing at all.

Used the fob unlock hold till all windows are open and turn the key and nothing as well.

Diagnostic tool said "03 internual control module fault", looking in the immobiliser section.

What is the problem, is it immobiliser stuffed, bcu faulty

    Need help.

Have you a second remote ? If so try that also; to see if you have the same result. A low key fob battery can also cause this problem. Also check starter solenoid !

    Hi laurie,

Thanks for replying, and yes tried second fob same results.

But like the idea of starter solenoid, is this something that can cause all this, as in power signal no getting through to active the starter

had something similar on a D2 where it would crank but not fire up.
later found that there was an engine kill switch that it fitted to diesels so that in event of rollover/accident the motor is switched off.
I had accidently turned it off. have been told a good bounce when offroad can also turn it off
Perhaps yours has a similar item fitted, and somehow it has turned to off.

If you test the solenoid and it works, you know it's a wiring/module fault. If not you have found the culprit!

    Hi all,

Just a update on car starting problems.

After working out that the steering lock working and got lights on dash before turning the key to start, when nothing happened.

So l pulled the ignition switch out(all things point to this) and inspected the contacts and found one contact to be corroded and l put a points file in the contacts and cleaned everything up.

Put all this back in car and now it starts again as normal.

Thanks for all who contributed ideas and solutions.
