Thread: 2004 Ambient Air temp sensor wiring

hoping someone has this info as I spent last night looking through Range Rover Circuit Diagrams and Electrical Library book and it didn’t quite have what I’m looking for..

I picked my car up from the panel beaters yesterday after having the front bumper and corner light replaced from being side swiped in a car park. It was reasonable warm in Melbourne yesterday and shortly after I drove off I looked down at the dash and saw air temperature of what I thought was 40 then realised it was saying -40. Turned around and went back to the shop as I realised they must have forgotten to plug the air temp sensor in the grill back in. They took the grill off but we couldn’t locate the connector. As they were trying to close for the Easter break they said bring it back post holiday and they will sort it.
Bit annoyed but a genuine mistake....
On the drive home noticed the air-cond didn’t seems to be working that well (since read this sensor has something to do with it) , also car seemed to be running higher than normal idle ...not sure if this is related.


Anyway question is does anyone know where the loom starts for the sensor, it’s not part of the PDC loom and from what I can work out it’s just 2 wires that connect somewhere in the engine bay and go to the instrument cluster. Just trying to avoid pulling the whole bumper off if I can get to it another way. Keen to get the air conditioner running properly for the Easter break

Decided to take the bumper bar off, wasn’t quite as daunting as I thought there’s just a lot of screw/bolts. The connector was inside the metal cross member and I wouldn’t have been able to get it out without moving the bumper bar forward. Whilst I said in the PDR loom pics I’d seen I could only see 4 connectors for the front 4 sensors it does appear as though the connector for the outside air temp is in that same loom. Anyway gave me a chance to see where the panel beaters hadn’t quite reassembled everything correctly....and fix it up.
