Quick help needed. L322 no start stuck in supermarket in dodgy area

Please quick responses needed on 03 M62.

So its raining pretty hard today and my car is stuck at the supermarket car park with a no start.

    Symptoms are:

Brake lights were staying on when the car was locked as I approached it,

Car unlocked via the key but couldn't turn the key in the ignition (still steering lock on)

Dash information randomly flickering on and off, air bag flickering with key removed from ignition.

Disconnected battery and reconnected with no joy. Car won't lock or unlock with the key now.

Removed fuse 18 and put it back in, no change.

Couldn't do much more as it is still raining.

    Anyone had this before???

    Battery maybe

Battery maybe it is a couple of years old. Hope I have some warranty left. Delcor 60038 with a 3 year replacement warranty.

I'll test later tonight. Can't understand why it would keep the brake lights on and the intermittent powering of the gauge cluster and air bag light.

Also I had drove a couple hundred km today on the highway so it should have taken a good charge.

    Update

So I tested the battery and its good. 773CCA (out of 900) and 78% state of health.

I have managed to start the car and get it to a safer place. Fault not fixed yet.

I had my test light connected to battery - and was probing the fuses with the key in the ignition. I think I was around fuse 10 ish, but didn't take much notice as it was dark and I heard the steering lock disengage and the car started. Drove it to my accommodation where it is at least safer. Brake lights still on with the ignition off with no indication of blinkers on the dash and no radio. It was also in top gear like in transmission fail safe mode but nothing on the dash.

I'll do a proper diagnostic tomorrow when I can see and work out what the hell is going on with it.

I'll keep you updated just in case anyone gets the same problem.

Edit: So I'm just thinking about my problem when I;m not freaked out about my car getting windows smashed and my tools getting nicked. Its obvious that I have an earth fault! I've just got to work out the common earth point the dash, radio, brake lights and gearbox share. I wish I had a wiring diagram handy.

Loose earth or loose/burnt electrical joints and wiring at rear of fuse box.

    Good luck with it.

Could this be a brake switch issue like a D3/4?

My L322 did the same thing as far as steering lock etc turned out to be battery this was after removing steering lock and immobilisation system. You can circumvent the the immobilisation and steering lock but try a new battery first, I didn’t discover this by accident fellow AULRO members sorted me out. My battery was showing 12 volts not the 13.2 a good battery should be.

    Fixed itself

So it was water getting in somewhere. I got it going by the using the lest light on fuse 8 that seamed to get the ignition on and steering lock off.

Dove the car from Hervey Bay to Gympie on a somewhat hot day and gradually everything started coming back on. By the time I got to Gympie it sorted itself out. I;ll have to be careful the next rain event.

Sure the battery is not on its way out? First weekend out mine was having a bit of a tizzy fit, after sitting idle for an extended time prior to my stewardship. The run from the bay to Gympie would have given the battery a healthy charge.
